Görlitz/Ludwigsdorf (dpa/sn) - The Federal Police escaped a suspected towing vehicle when checking a box van in the Hagenwerder district of Görlitz. She is asking the public for help in finding her. As the Federal Police Inspectorate in Ludwigsdorf announced on Wednesday, the driver had resisted the arrest early Tuesday morning, choked an officer and then fled with the vehicle. Officers fired two warning shots and then aimed at the tires. Although one of the front tires was damaged, the alleged smuggler managed to escape, it said.
When the red van was checked, several occupants had exited the vehicle in different directions. With the help of a helicopter, the officials reportedly managed to take thirteen illegally entered Iranian nationals into custody.
