Dresden (dpa / sn) - Due to the high energy prices, Saxony's tax offices grant tax relief for taxpayers who are economically affected by it. According to the Ministry of Finance in Dresden on Thursday, the top financial authorities of the federal and state governments agreed on this. Upon request, the authorities could reduce advance payments for income tax and corporation tax, defer tax claims and temporarily refrain from enforcement measures.
"Many of our companies are currently under considerable pressure because of the significant increase in energy costs," said Finance Minister Hartmut Vorjohann (CDU) according to the announcement. The tax authorities are instructed to "responsibly exercise the discretion they are entitled to and thus secure some of our company's liquidity". In particular, companies from energy-intensive sectors and other companies that are economically affected by energy prices to a significant extent, but also self-employed and freelancers who are affected accordingly.
