Saxony: the number of bathing deaths in Saxony has fallen significantly

Saxony (dpa/sn) - Significantly fewer people drowned while bathing in Saxony in the first seven months than in the same period last year. This emerges from an interim report by the German Life Saving Society (DLRG), which was published on Thursday. While 18 deaths were registered in the first seven months of 2021, by the end of July this year 13 people had drowned. Accordingly, many accidents happen either in rivers or lakes.

According to the DLRG, at least 199 people drowned in German waters nationwide by the end of July this year. In the same period last year there were 184 bathing deaths. The DLRG therefore advises caution and consideration when bathing.
