Saxony: The number of crafts in Saxony is decreasing slightly

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The number of Saxon craft businesses has decreased slightly in the past year. As the craft day announced on Wednesday, there were 3213 additions to 4014 disposals. The number of companies fell by 1.4 percent. One of the main reasons is seen in the fact that many solo self-employed have retired. "If professionally qualified, many of them have switched to competitive craft businesses - for example in the construction and finishing trades - as employees subject to social security contributions," it said.

In addition, the trade had been given up for reasons of age and especially in the countryside. "Sometimes qualified craftsmen shy away from setting up their own professional existence due to unattractive framework conditions such as government bureaucracy in everyday business," the Saxon Crafts Day named another reason. Especially in occupations such as laying tiles, slabs and mosaics, car technicians and hairdressers, there were more cancellations than registrations. Around 300,000 people are currently employed in handicrafts in the Free State.
