Saxony: Three men convicted of gang drug trafficking

Zwickau (dpa / sn) - The Zwickau district court has sentenced three men for gang drug trafficking. For the main accused, a 24-year-old, the youth chamber imposed a prison sentence of eight and a half years. Two 20 and 21-year-old accomplices received youth sentences of two and one year, which were suspended on probation, the court announced on Tuesday. They accepted the verdicts, in the case of the older man it is not yet final. The case of two co-defendants has been dismissed and referred to a criminal division because they are adults.

The judges are convinced that the three convicts, as members of a gang, received a total of at least 59 kilograms of crystal, almost 33 kilograms of marijuana and a good two kilograms of cocaine in several deliveries between December 2020 and May 2021, of which at least 47 kilograms of crystal, around 28 kilograms of marijuana and that complete cocaine sold for profit. The 24-year-old was the contact person for the suppliers in Frankfurt am Main, conducted the negotiations, set and controlled the prices. The 20-year-old was his right hand and the 21-year-old was a courier.

The three accused confessed in court, with the exception of the gang activities. To collude with each other, they used so-called crypto cell phones, which the FBI had prepared and sold to buyers who did not know that the encrypted communication could be read. The FBI had provided the German authorities with the information obtained in the course of proceedings conducted in the USA.
