Arzberg/Schmilka (dpa/sn) - The Technical Relief Organization (THW) provides sufficient extinguishing water in the Saxon forest fire areas. As the THW announced on Sunday, the water for use in Arzberg (Northern Saxony district) is pumped over a distance of 5.3 kilometers from the Elbe.
"At the end of the route, the water will be taken from a buffer tank by the fire brigade using tank extinguishing vehicles. If necessary, the buffer tank can also be used to refill the helicopter with extinguishing water," it said. Collapsible containers with a capacity of 24,000 liters are filled in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. In both fire areas, the THW has been deployed with around 200 people so far.
