Saxony: Tourism association advertises holidays in Saxon Switzerland

The situation in the forest fire area of Saxon Switzerland continues to ease. The tourism association is still hoping for many last-minute hikers.

Pirna (dpa / sn) - The tourism association Saxon Switzerland is hoping for spontaneous hikers after the forest fire in the rear part of the national park. "Friends of nature who are arriving in the next few weeks will even support the reconstruction of the affected area via a linked system," the association said.

A first inventory of the fire disaster shows that the actual deployment area is "tiny" at 0.4 percent of the entire holiday region.

"Hiking holidays are possible again without any problems, the opportunity is good for last-minute decision-makers, numerous popular accommodations are available again at short notice," advertised the association. There are currently only minor restrictions for holidaymakers. Only about 1.5 of the total area of 381 square kilometers with about 1200 kilometers of hiking trails and about 3 of the 116 kilometers of the painter's path are affected.

If you book through the tourism association for arrivals until the end of October, they donate ten percent of the total amount to the private project "Reconstruction of the Saxon Switzerland National Park Region". So far, more than 28,000 euros have come for the recultivation in the national park in the wild and romantic rocky world of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, which is one of Germany's most popular hiking regions.
