Saxony: train collides with a tractor: two seriously injured

Mügeln/Leipzig (dpa/sn) - When a historic train and a tractor trailer collided at an unrestricted level crossing near Mügeln in northern Saxony, two people were seriously injured. The 34-year-old train driver and a 16-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital, the police in Leipzig said on Saturday. Eight other passengers on the train suffered minor injuries. The accident on Friday evening caused damage of around 700,000 euros.

According to previous knowledge, the 32-year-old tractor driver, who had loaded silage on his trailer, turned off the road to the left and did not pay enough attention to the level crossing, which resulted in the collision with the historic Döllnitzbahn. The locomotive, a baggage car and a passenger car derailed.
