Saxony: Trial against 40-year-olds for murdering a woman

Leipzig (dpa / sn) - Half a year after the violent death of a 43-year-old in Leipzig, a man has to answer in court from Friday (9:00 a.m.). The public prosecutor accuses the 40-year-old of murder. Accordingly, the accused is said to have killed his acquaintance insidiously and for base reasons because the woman did not want to enter into a closer relationship with him.

The process had already begun on June 3rd at the Leipzig Regional Court. At that time, only the indictment had been read out. The procedure must now be reopened because a sick judge had to be replaced. A statement from the accused is also expected at the start.

The two Germans met online and had a casual relationship. When the man wanted more, the 43-year-old rejected him, according to the indictment. She had also started a relationship with another man.

One day after Christmas, the accused is said to have gained access to the woman's apartment under the pretext of wanting to have a clarifying conversation. There he knocked the 43-year-old to the ground, knelt on her chest and strangled her, Diekmann said. The victim could not have expected an attack.

The regional court has set further hearing dates until mid-July.
