Saxony: University of Technology in Leipzig attacked by hackers

Leipzig (dpa / sn) - The University of Applied Sciences for Technology, Economics and Culture (HTWK) in Leipzig has become the victim of a hacker attack. Between October 19th and 20th, unknown persons gained access to the login data of some users, as the university announced in Leipzig on Tuesday. Affected systems were immediately secured and taken off the network. The security gap has now been identified and closed. So far, there are no indications that data has leaked.

After the incident, the university reported that it reported it to the State Criminal Police Office. The university also took preventive measures to rule out long-term effects of the attack. A newly established crisis management team analyzes and reassesses the situation on a daily basis.
