Seven passengers injured: McConaughey experienced turbulent Lufthansa flight

Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey is on board a Lufthansa plane with his wife when the plane suddenly loses a lot of altitude. Seven passengers are injured. Because of the turbulence, the pilots decide to make an unscheduled landing.

Camila Alves McConaughey, wife of Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey, has described the couple's experiences on a Lufthansa flight with severe turbulence. She posted a short video of the "chaos" on board the machine on Instagram on Thursday (local time). Everything flew through the air, she wrote, the pictures show napkins and leftovers scattered on the floor of the plane. She was told the plane had dropped almost 4,000 feet (more than 1,200 meters), wrote the Hollywood star's partner, who was on the plane.

The ex-model was on a Lufthansa flight from Austin, Texas to Frankfurt on Wednesday evening, but flight LH469 made an unscheduled landing in Washington due to the significant turbulence. A company spokeswoman said seven passengers on the plane were slightly injured. All passengers were rebooked on other flights. The plane flew back to Germany with no passengers on board.

After landing in Washington and checking into a hotel, she and her husband just made it to the hotel bar, Camila Alves McConaughey told her followers. In her Instagram story she posted another video in which the 41-year-old spoke to the camera with a worried expression. She is now on the onward journey and the pilot again warned of turbulence.

Texas-born Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey ("Dallas Buyers Club") and the native Brazilian have been married since 2012. The couple have three children.
