Officials have purchased neighboring residents to shelter in place while they burn hazardous materials after a multi-vehicle crash along with hazmat episode on-95 at New Castle County, Delaware.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday about the northbound lanes of the street near Airport Road at Newport.

Authorities said a pickup truck involved in the wreck has been pulling a trailer which was carrying 1,500 lbs of organic peroxide that spilled on I-95.

The driver of a pickup truck has been treated for non-life-threatening accidents. No other injuries are reported.

"The roadway will be closed for an elongated period because of a crash between hazmat substance spilled onto the roadway. Motorists should find alternative routes of travel," that the Delaware State Police said.

Drivers were departing Route 273 to detour on Route 13.
