Sign leading visitors to Appalachian Trail stolen in Slate Belt

An unknown person stole a sign posted in a Wind Gap parking lot leading visitors to the Appalachian Trail.

Slate Belt Regional police said the sign went missing Saturday from the North Broadway parking lot. Police took to the department's Facebook Tuesday page in hopes of finding the culprit.

The Appalachian Trail is the longest hiking-only footpath in the world, ranging from Maine to Georgia. Those with information are asked to call Slate Belt Regional police at 610-759-8517.
