Carita Savolainen, a Finnish visual artist, presents landscapes that transcend water, wind and time. The nature, which is more painful than ever, will be revealed to visitors as they are immersed in it, from watercolors to canvases.
The painter says, "First impressions shouldn't be trusted because my artistic works are deeply rooted in the landscape experience. They seem at first glance to be aesthetic." They convey a sense of dread about the loss of everything beautiful, alive, and dying.
Opening will be Sunday, June 5, at 4 p.m. With readings of texts for the catalogue, Adeline Yzac, author of Finnish origin, will give a reading and offer another perspective on the suomi field after she has discovered the Finnish imagination.
