Soccer. TV: What price for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 TV on Amazon?

Amazon Prime Video, the broadcaster of 80% Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 football, announced Wednesday that it has launched a new price for the 2022-2023 French Football Season. It is a 99-euro "season pass", even 89 euros if you subscribe before August 31st.

Alex Green, Amazon Europe's Sports boss, presented the outline of Prime Video's next season's offer during a briefing on Wednesday. The monthly offer ("Ligue 1 pass"), priced at 12.99 euros per month, will continue this season. Additionally, Amazon will offer an annual rate of 99 euros for all L1 or L2 matches. This offer is available until August 28th at a reduced price of 89 euro

The manager rejoiced, "Our monthly pass was already very appealing, but now we offer an even more attractive offer for the whole season." He added, "It's great for our followers and it is good for us to be in a position to create that engagement."

The offer will be available starting July 11, a few days prior to the start of the season. It is set for the weekend July 30 and ends with the Champions Trophy (Paris SG – Nantes) on the 31st.

A subscription to Amazon Prime, which costs 49 euros per annum or 5.99 euros each month, is required to subscribe to the "Ligue 1 Pass" like the "season passes". Amazon reclaimed the TV rights to the French Championship, which were left unclaimed by Mediapro, a failing broadcaster. This will be available until 2024. The web giant L1 charges 250 million euros per season.

Prime Video expects continuity in its programming for the 2022-2023 season. This includes the continuation of "Sunday Evening Football" without subscription and a stable cast. Thierry Henry will continue to be the leading consultant. Alex Green assured that the Blues' greatest scorer "will be a key component of the next season."

The manager of Ligue 2 announced that the Saturday evening multiplex (7 p.m.) which was broadcast on L'Equipe last season would now be available on Prime Video. However, he did not rule out the possibility that L'Equipe might partner with him for single matches.
