Southern Alps. Three beaches are not allowed to be swam by Serre-Poncon

Many tourists are traveling to the Alps for their holiday. However, bad news is about their arrival: Swimming in the lake at Serre-Poncon (Corges), Bois Vieux(Rousset) or Chanterenne (Crots) is not allowed.

A press release by the Hautes-Alpes prefecture announced the news late Friday night, July 8. The State services warn of "risks of getting trapped and drowning" in these areas, despite the fact that the water level is 9.9 meters below the ideal level for filling at the beginning of July.

Swimming is permitted on five beaches, but it must be supervised. Those of Fein-Lautaret in Ubaye-Serre-Poncon, Combette and Savin'Plage in Savines-le-Lac, Port-Saint-Pierre in Sauze-du-Lac and Tremouilles-Chanteloube in Chorges. The Prefecture states that the five sites have had their supervised swimming areas enlarged and the firefighter and rescue teams strengthened.

There will be units for prevention in cars and boats. Firefighters and members of approved civil security organizations will be on board. Hydroguides from EDF as well as soldiers from the Gendarmerie will also be available. In the event of violation, verbalization can be considered.
