Space: China: Rocket remains fell into the sea near the Philippines

According to official information from Beijing, the remains of a Chinese space rocket fell into the sea near the Philippines. The "largest part" of the last stage of the "Long March 5B-Y3" rocket burned up when it re-entered the Earth's atmosphere, the Chinese space program reported, according to the official Xinhua news agency. The remaining debris fell east of the Philippine island of Palawan into the Sulu Sea.

The re-entry took place on Sunday at 00:55 Chinese time (18:55 CEST). A week ago, the large rocket launched the "Wentian" space module for the Chinese space station, which is currently under construction. Previously, there had been international criticism of the "uncontrolled" return of the rocket to the atmosphere. The US space agency Nasa complained that China had not passed on a specific trajectory.
