TGV and TER traffic interrupted south of Bordeaux due to a fire

Traffic, interrupted around 3:30 p.m. between Morcenx and Dax after a fire in the town of Laluque (south of the Landes), "will not resume this evening", according to a spokesperson.

On the Bordeaux-Hendaye and Bordeaux-Dax-Tarbes lines, "three TGVs bound for Paris from the south of Bordeaux have been held up at Dax station. They will return to their station of origin", added the SNCF.

In a press release at the start of the evening, the Landes prefecture indicated that the fire was "still in progress" but the situation deemed "favorable".

The fire which destroyed nearly 30 hectares of pines, mobilized two Canadairs, a Dash plane, nearly 170 firefighters and a dozen gendarmes. Eight houses were evacuated "as a precaution".

The prefecture specified that the SNCF had "distributed water and meals to all the travelers" stranded, making "every effort to offer them accommodation solutions".

The department was to spend Wednesday at midnight in red vigilance (level 4 out of 5) for the risk of forest fires, just like neighboring Lot-et-Garonne.
