The CDU boss is at the wheel himself: Merz comes to Lindner's wedding in a private plane

There are many well-known names on the guest list for the wedding of Finance Minister Lindner and journalist Lehfeldt. In addition to Chancellor Scholz, CDU leader Merz is also invited. He flies to Sylt in a private plane - and sits in the cockpit himself.

CDU leader Friedrich Merz and his wife Charlotte came to Sylt with their private plane for the wedding of Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner. Merz himself sat in the cockpit of the plane. He and his wife are on the guest list for the wedding celebration of Lindner and the journalist Franca Lehfeldt. In the evening the bachelorette party takes place.

The civil wedding took place on Thursday. Mayor Nikolas Häckel performed the marriage in the Sylt Museum. On Saturday, Lindner and Lehfeldt want to say yes in a church. According to media reports, the couple chose St. Severin's Church in Keitum for the wedding. Afterwards there will be a celebration in the "Sansibar" in the evening. Numerous celebrities are on the guest list - including Chancellor Olaf Scholz and VW boss Herbert Diess.

The North Frisian island is a popular holiday destination for celebrities and is also often chosen for weddings. A wedding like that of Christian Lindner serves the cliché of the celebrity island, said the Sylt deputy head of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association, Raphael Ipsen, the "Hamburger Abendblatt". "We hosts can live with that, in any case it increases the level of awareness of Sylt as a wedding location. And everyone can get married here, that's not reserved for VIPs."

Lindner and Lehfeldt did not enter the Sylt Museum, which was closed, through the main entrance on Thursday. In addition, those present had been expelled from the museum premises or the street directly in front of it long before the security personnel and police arrived. However, a few dozen people waited behind the police barriers diagonally opposite the main entrance - and were rewarded: the newlywed couple came out of the main entrance, kissed and went to their car. They waved to the numerous curious onlookers and journalists who had been waiting for the couple.

A little insight into their preparations for the wedding ceremony and the subsequent celebration can be seen on Instagram. Lehfeldt posted two photos with guests and signed one with "This one love". In a short video you can see how the 33-year-old is styled. It is the second marriage for the 43-year-old Lindner. He was already married to the journalist Dagmar Rosenfeld. Lehfeldt is also a journalist. She works as a political reporter for the Welt news channel, which belongs to the Axel Springer media group.
