The “felt m²”, the new invention of real estate agents

This new ruse got netizens laughing. A real estate advertisement published online offers a studio in the 9th arrondissement of Paris for the sum of 168,000 euros. The 24m² apartment is located "in the heart of the famous Saint-Georges district, close to the Paris Opera and the Lafayette galleries", describes the announcement, relayed by BFMTV. Nothing unusual so far for this property "with a quiet and bright mezzanine", which has a living room, a kitchenette and a mezzanine bedroom in the attic.

When describing the surface of the house, the interested parties then come across a rather particular notion. The apartment measures "3.55m² on the ground and 11.53m² Carrez law - 16m² felt", specifies the agency at the origin of the announcement.
