Two armed men shot dead journalist Marco Aurelio Ramírez Hernández, who was inside his car, in the Mexican municipality of Tehuacán, in the state of Puebla.

After being attacked, the journalist lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. Ramírez, who in addition to being a journalist was general director of the Government of Tehuacán, collaborated as a columnist for a radio station. He had more than 30 years of professional experience behind him in different media, but he mainly dealt with covering events.

Police officers and emergency services arrived at the scene of the event, confirming the death of Ramírez, as reported by 'El Sol de Puebla'. The Prosecutor's Office has indicated that "it has become aware of the fact in which Marco Aurelio R. was deprived of life in Tehuacán and has begun the investigation of it, which will be carried out promptly and effectively."

Since the year 2000, nearly 150 journalists have been murdered and 28 have disappeared in Mexico, according to the NGO Reporters Without Borders (RSF), which ranks this country among the most dangerous in the world and ranked 128 out of 180 on its index. of press freedom.
