The prefecture offers some guidance on drought in the Landes

Many French departments now face drought after a dry winter and spring that was lower than the seasonal averages. The prefecture's services urge us all to take the necessary steps to conserve water, even though the Landes department is not currently subject to any restrictions.

Individuals should limit the watering of their gardens and use only the washing machines (linen, dishes, etc.). Full capacity is the best option. The prefecture has good advice about how to install equipment to conserve water.

For their part, local authorities are invited to inspect and reduce water leakages in distribution networks, as well as optimize watering green spaces and road cleaning. The State services can also distribute water-saving products to homes.

Manufacturers are encouraged to reuse their cleaning water and put in closed circuits. The prefecture also recommends that farmers set up water towers to allow them to irrigate. They should use water-efficient equipment and reduce their irrigation according the time frames in the measures to limit withdraws.
