Saalfeld (dpa/th) - In Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, the extinguishing work continued one day after a wildfire broke out. Around 36 hectares have now been burned. "A firefighting helicopter is in supportive use," said the police on Tuesday afternoon. According to initial findings, a meadow near Saalfeld had started to burn on Monday afternoon during mowing work. Whether a spark started the fire could not be said with certainty. The blaze spread to farmland and was brought under control in the evening before it started burning again on Tuesday, a police spokeswoman said.
