Thuringia: Administration moves back to the historic town hall in Weimar

Weimar (dpa/th) - computers and telephones have been reconnected, most of the offices have been occupied again: after almost eight and a half years of being vacant, the historic town hall in Weimar is back in operation. After extensive renovation work, both the mayor and several offices have successfully moved into the neo-Gothic building on the west side of the market square, as a spokesman for the city administration said on Friday. Gradually, however, boxes would have to be cleared out and small manual work would have to be done.

The historic town hall is scheduled to open for regular business from next Tuesday. Then visitors should also be able to get an impression of the old new Lord Mayor's seat. The former Wilhelm-Ernst-Gymnasium, which was temporarily used as an interim town hall, will continue to be used by the city administration.
