Erfurt (dpa/th) - A 22-year-old who was seriously injured in a knife attack on the station forecourt in Erfurt is out of danger. The young man and a 16-year-old from Erfurt were attacked by a man with a knife on the square in front of Erfurt's main train station on Thursday evening, a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office said on Friday. Both were injured - the man life-threatening. They were taken to a nearby hospital.

The 33-year-old alleged perpetrator was taken into custody on Thursday evening by federal police officers. According to the public prosecutor's office, the district court issued an arrest warrant on Friday for attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm. The man is therefore in custody.
