Thuringia: Already 100,000 euros in donations after the fire in Bothenheilingen

Bothenheilingen (dpa/th) - Almost two weeks after the major fire in Bothenheilingen (Unstrut-Hainich district), 100,000 euros have already been received in the official donation account for those affected. This was announced by the mayor of the city of Nottertal-Heilinger Höhen, Hans-Joachim Roth, on Thursday on request. The 450-inhabitant community belongs to his commune. "A sum that no one expected and that reflects the deep dismay," emphasized Roth. He pointed out that there had also been private calls for donations on social networks.

During the fire in the historic center of Bothenheilingen on Monday last week, a four-sided courtyard with a carpentry shop, apartments and a dance hall burned down to the foundations. 15 people lost their homes. The fire caused serious damage to other buildings.

According to Roth, 30,000 euros have already been paid out to those affected by the fire in the form of a capitation. All other donations will then be distributed among those affected by the fire by a commission consisting of citizens of the municipality of Bothenheilingen. The key should be determined after the benefit event scheduled for Saturday in town.
