Bad Liebenstein (dpa/th) - The Altenstein show cave (Wartburgkreis) should be able to welcome visitors again this year after extensive renovation. The Zechstein Cave under the Altensteiner Park in Schweina has been being rebuilt for around 2.3 million euros since May 2020, as the city of Bad Liebenstein announced on Friday.
The construction work had been extended due to bat protection and supply and staff shortages. Now the reopening of the underground park with cave dome and lake is planned for the third quarter of this year. In the future, the cave will be staged with light and 3D installations, it said.
