Weimar (dpa/th) - In the coming days in Weimar, Ukrainian literature is intended to make everyday life for those affected by the Russian war of aggression tangible. The project "A Paper Bridge" has been bringing together Ukrainian and German writers in different cities since 2015 to promote Ukrainian literature. The three-day meeting with readings, film screenings and discussions will take place in the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar until Friday. A meeting was actually planned for this year in Mykolaiv in the Ukraine.
According to the organizers, the project was founded in 2015 "out of fear of the annexation of Crimea and the war in eastern Ukraine". It tries to build a bridge to the European country with literature and culture. The meeting in Weimar is public and free of charge. There will be simultaneous translation.
"A Paper Bridge" is funded by the Federal Foreign Office, the Munich Cultural Department and the Anna Amalia Library Society. It is a cooperation between the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Duchess Anna Amalia Library as well as the German Literature Institute in Leipzig, the Munich Adult Education Center, the German Academy for Language and Poetry in Darmstadt, the Bavarian Literature Portal and the Lviv - City of Literature project.
