Thuringia: BUND Thuringia calls for a follow-up offer for a 9-euro ticket

Erfurt (dpa/th) - BUND Thüringen is calling for a follow-up offer for the 9-euro ticket that expires at the end of August. "The Thuringian state government must not fail to campaign for a nationwide valid 365-euro annual ticket or a comparably cheap offer for people with low incomes immediately after the 9-euro ticket," said Robert Bednarsky, state chairman of the BUND Thuringia , on Monday in Erfurt. In addition, the connections in rural areas would have to be expanded and a Thuringia cycle with a half-hourly local transport connection for all towns in Thuringia would have to be created.

For sustainable financing of the cheap tickets and the significant improvements in local transport, the BUND Thuringia proposes to further increase federal and state funds. Additional taxpayers' money from the income from the CO2 tax, the truck toll, a new, mileage-based car toll, a city toll and increased parking fees would have to be used to finance the rail infrastructure and local public transport. In addition, the BUND Thüringen calls for the abolition of all climate-damaging subsidies, such as for Erfurt-Weimar Airport.
