Thuringia: CDU also for more resident participation in wind turbines

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The Thuringian CDU parliamentary group also wants residents to participate more financially in wind turbines in the future. "It has to end with the principle: Some have the wind turbine and the other have the profit," said the energy policy spokesman for the parliamentary group, Thomas Gottweiss, on Wednesday. In his view, the profits from wind turbines should remain local.

Environment Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens) and energy policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group, Denny Möller, had previously spoken out in favor of more financial participation by local citizens. This is possible, for example, through the participation of local cooperatives or municipal actors such as municipal utilities. According to Gottweiss, it is also conceivable that corporations would transfer part of the profits to the communities.

In Thuringia, a distance regulation for wind turbines to residential buildings is currently being debated. After the AfD had supported a corresponding CDU alternative, there was a risk of a scandal in the state parliament at the beginning of June. The decision on this was postponed, and since then the red-red-green minority government has been discussing a solution with the CDU.
