Thuringia: CDU parliamentary group wants files on suspected left-wing extremists

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The Thuringian CDU parliamentary group wants to see files relating to the criminal proceedings against the alleged left-wing extremist Lina E. The CDU parliamentary group spokesman responsible for the committee, Mike Mohring, announced on Thursday that the parliamentary group had made a corresponding request in the committee of inquiry "politically motivated violent crime". "It's about sifting through the results of the investigations and criminal proceedings and deriving insights into the left-wing extremist scene in Thuringia," said Mohring.

A trial has been underway at the Dresden Higher Regional Court (OLG) since September 2021 against the student Lina E. from Kassel and three men from Leipzig and Berlin. They are charged with causing dangerous bodily harm and forming a criminal organization. The federal prosecutor accuses them of beating up members of the right-wing scene in Leipzig, Wurzen and Eisenach between 2018 and 2020. The defense accuses the special commission on left-wing extremism in the Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA), which was commissioned with the investigation, of "constructing a criminal organization from a number of acts of bodily harm" and speaks of a "politicized procedure".

According to the CDU parliamentary group, documents are also being requested for other proceedings against four men from E.'s environment. You are said to have been involved in an attack on a right-wing extremist in Eisenach in December 2019. The "danger of radical left-wing extremism" should not be underestimated, said Mohring.
