Erfurt (dpa/th) - According to the will of the CDU parliamentary group in the state parliament, a commission of inquiry should draw lessons from the corona pandemic for children and young people. The Corona crisis was a major burden for many parents and their children, said the CDU education politician Christian Tischner on Monday when presenting a corresponding application. According to studies, a majority of children and young people feel psychologically stressed by the pandemic, not least because of loneliness and social isolation.
"We don't want a committee of inquiry, we want to look ahead," emphasized Tischner. It is about analyzing the national political measures taken during the pandemic and drawing lessons for future crises. Among other things, it is about competence responsibilities and communication. The long-term consequences of the pandemic for children and young people should also be examined.
According to the CDU, the application for the commission of inquiry is on the agenda for next week's state parliament session. The body would be the first of its kind in this legislature. In addition to 13 members of the five parliamentary groups represented in the state parliament and two parliamentary groups, the commission would include the same number of experts as scientists.
The AfD parliamentary group accused the CDU of wanting to operate cheap populism on the backs of children.
