Thuringia: CDU with more than 200 amendments to the budget

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The opposition CDU parliamentary group wants to achieve corrections in the budget draft of the red-red-green minority government with a package of more than 200 amendments. "We want to shift around 300 million euros in the budget," said CDU budget politician Volker Emde on Wednesday in Erfurt. CDU parliamentary group leader Mario Voigt reiterated the criticism of the government draft: "The basic structure of the budget is not correct, it is not crisis-proof. The government would be well advised to face the criticism."

The CDU parliamentary group had initially demanded that the state government itself make corrections to the budget with a record volume of around 13 billion euros, which has been in the state parliament since September.

Now the amendments of the CDU as well as those of other parliamentary groups and parliamentary groups are to be submitted on December 1st by the deadline. The budget committee of the state parliament is expected to deal with it on December 8 - a controversial debate is expected.

Among other things, the CDU demands that the state take 50 million euros less from the reserve to finance the expenses, said Emde. "We see savings potential above all in administration," says Voigt. Thuringia needs a bureaucracy brake. In addition, the municipalities are to receive over 100 million euros more than previously planned.

Voigt was evasive about possible talks with the red-red-green minority coalition before the decisive committee meeting: "We have made our proposals," said the opposition leader. Left, SPD and Greens, who also submitted a number of amendments, are missing four votes for a majority in the state parliament.
