Erfurt (dpa/th) - With a charging park for electric vehicles at the children's media center in Erfurt, experience is to be gained for service in areas with rented apartments or rented commercial space. The Thuringian Ministry of Economics supported the construction of the ten charging points with around 26,000 euros, said State Secretary Carsten Feller on Friday. Further funding applications in the amount of around 200,000 euros for locations both in Erfurt and in other Thuringian cities are currently being examined.
According to the ministry, further charging points are planned in the Brühl district of the state capital as part of the project. According to the ministry, tenants will be provided with several charging locations per quarter, which can each be used by up to nine electric vehicles at the same time.
The project, which is funded by the federal government with a single-digit million amount, is being implemented by a Thuringian consortium led by Innoman GmbH together with Stadtwerke Erfurt and TAG Immobilien. It has been running since 2021. It is planned to use locally generated renewable electricity to operate the charging service in order to reduce costs.
