Thuringia: Commuter recovery: IHK relies on regional offers

Suhl/Erfurt (dpa/th) - In view of the continued high number of commuters from Thuringia to neighboring federal states, the Southern Thuringia Chamber of Commerce and Industry is calling for increased regional return campaigns for workers. Instead of thinking about these actions nationwide, they would have to be thought of and implemented on a much smaller scale, said a spokeswoman for the chamber on request. Such initiatives are being prepared for southern Thuringia. "We are expecting the greatest successes from strongly regionalized activities." According to figures from the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, around 124,000 people regularly commuted to work outside of Thuringia last year. That's a good 50,000 more people than those who commuted to Thuringia to work.
