Erfurt (dpa/th) - In the proceedings for an attack on a group of young people in front of the Erfurt State Chancellery in July 2020, four of the six accused confessed on Wednesday. Before the district court of Erfurt, they admitted their involvement in the attack and apologized. All six of the accused stated that they could no longer remember what specifically happened on the green area in front of the State Chancellery.

The accused, who were between 17 and 19 years old at the time of the crime, are accused of dangerous bodily harm and breach of the peace. Two of the accused are also said to have been guilty of attacking and resisting police officers. According to the indictment, in July 2020 the men from a larger group attacked young people who were on the green area in front of the State Chancellery. They are said to have hit their victims indiscriminately.

Some of the victims are said to have been so traumatized after the attack that they no longer dared to leave the house at night. One of the teenagers was injured so badly that he had to be treated in the hospital. A police officer who had intervened in the incident with two colleagues was also injured.
