Erfurt (dpa/th) - According to the construction industry association, delays in construction due to the heat are not an issue in Thuringia - unlike in Saxony-Anhalt. "One cannot say that we will have problems or delays," said the association's general manager, Burkhard Siebert, on Wednesday on request. It's about a situation of three or four days. Many companies started earlier in the morning, for example handing out sunscreen to employees.
However, the temperatures are a burden, he said. It is important to protect the health and safety of employees. However, there is no absolute limit as to the temperature at which road construction, for example, is no longer allowed.
In Saxony-Anhalt, the construction industry association had warned that many construction sites could not be completed on time due to the heat. Heavy work is not sustainable in the extreme heat. Road builders, carpenters, roofers and bricklayers are particularly affected.
