Thuringia: Contact point for Catholic Day opened

Erfurt (dpa/th) - A good year before the start of the German Catholic Day in Erfurt, the associated office in the state capital opened. According to a statement, up to 40 employees will organize the program for the 103rd German Catholic Day in the cathedral city over the next twelve months.

Within five days, from May 29 to June 2, 2024, 500 events on social issues, politics and the church are planned. The motto for the lay meeting organized by the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK) was "The man of peace has a future". According to the announcement, Marc Frings, ZdK Secretary General, said: "Peace is not an abstract quantity these days." Europe would face the challenge of having to reestablish a peace order. "The war of aggression on Ukraine will also concern us at Catholic Day. We will strengthen peace in the program and also look at it in different contexts: in families, in the church, in a society deeply divided by the consequences of the pandemic."

Most recently, the lay meeting of Catholics 2022 took place in Stuttgart.
