Erfurt (dpa/th) - The number of statistically recorded new corona infections within a week has increased continuously in Thuringia. On Thursday, the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants was 220.5, according to the Ministry of Health. On Thursday of the previous week, the seven-day incidence was still just under 180. In the past seven days, 15 more people who were infected with the corona virus have died.
The number of corona cases registered by the health authorities has been increasing again since the beginning of September. Thuringia no longer has the lowest incidence of all federal states, as it did for many weeks: According to the Robert Koch Institute, Baden-Württemberg (174.7) and Berlin (210) had lower values on Thursday. From Wednesday to Thursday, 1111 new cases were reported in Thuringia.
However, the numbers only allow a limited picture of the infection situation. Only those corona cases that have been detected by means of a PCR test are officially recorded. Positive antigen tests are not counted. In addition, late registrations can lead to distortions.
The corona situation in the Thuringian hospitals is relatively relaxed. Based on 100,000 inhabitants, 4.5 new corona cases were statistically recorded in the clinics in the past week. On Thursday, 24 patients who were seriously ill with Covid-19 after a corona infection were treated in intensive care units. In the recent severe winter pandemic wave, there were about ten times as many.
