Erfurt (dpa/th) - People in Thuringia can only be vaccinated against the corona virus in vaccination centers until Christmas. The 14 remaining vaccination centers in the state are to be gradually closed in the coming weeks, as the Thuringian Ministry of Health announced on Thursday. The vaccination centers in Sonneberg, Gotha, Erfurt, Suhl, Gera and Jena should have their last opening day on December 23rd, others on December 16th or 17th.
Corona vaccinations are then only possible with resident doctors or in social institutions and health facilities as well as care facilities where vaccination teams can be deployed if necessary.
Thuringia's Health Minister Heike Werner (left) explained that the work in the vaccination centers had succeeded in protecting many people quickly and across the board against the corona virus. "At the same time, I am annoyed by the short-term communication of the federal government in this important matter. The signals that the proportionate funding by the federal government should have come to an end should have come much earlier," said the minister.
