Thuringia: Counseling center for sex workers warns of discrimination

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Sex workers in Thuringia are discriminated against, according to a specialist advice center. "Discrimination can be seen throughout," said Delia Dancia from the "allerd!ngs" counseling center on Tuesday at a conference in Erfurt. "People who come to the counseling center keep saying, 'We only have duties, we have no rights,'" says Dancia. "We want those who see prostitution as work to be able to do so knowing they are legally secure, have support when they need it, are taken seriously and don't feel patronised." Sex work must be freed from taboos and destigmatized, Dancia demanded.

"Allerd!ings" is the first specialist advice center for sex workers of all genders and nationalities in Thuringia. She has been advising people who offer erotic and sexual services since mid-November 2021 and provides information on, among other things, psychosocial and social law issues as well as the Prostitute Protection Act.
