Weimar (dpa/th) - The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is presenting works from its internationally important Cranach collection in a new permanent exhibition. From this Saturday, objects by Lucas Cranach the Elder, the Younger and their workshop will be on display in the Renaissance Hall of the Duchess Anna Amalia Library, as the foundation announced on Thursday. Under the title "Cranach's Floods of Images", 35 paintings, graphics, coins and changing book illustrations can be viewed in the exhibition.

The Cranach workshop was one of the most productive in art history. Several thousand pictures left the studio. According to the information provided, the show refers to the Reformation in text and image and addresses the media world of the 16th century. The Cranach Collection is one of the focal points of the Classic Foundation, which the show will now make visible to visitors, said the President of the Foundation, Ulrike Lorenz.
