Thuringia: Drug trial against right-wing extremists starts again

Erfurt (dpa/th) - A trial against several members of the right-wing extremist scene is beginning today in the Erfurt district court. According to the court, nine men and women have to answer because the public prosecutor's office accuses them of dealing in drugs on a large scale.

In addition to the gang trade in narcotics, individual defendants are also accused of membership in a criminal organization, extortion, forced prostitution and violations of the weapons law. In the years 2020 and 2021, the accused are said to have traded drugs worth around 800,000 euros, according to the court.

The process had already started in June. In August, however, it had to be suspended for formal reasons because one of the accused did not appear at the hearing due to illness. With the new start of the proceedings, the indictment must now be read out again.
