Thuringia: Education Monitor: Holter pleased with Thuringia's performance

Berlin/Erfurt (dpa/th) - Minister of Education Helmut Holter (left) was pleased with Thuringia's performance in the education monitor of the Social Market Economy Initiative (INSM). "It shows that the teachers do a very good job," Holter told the German Press Agency on Wednesday. At the same time, the study proves that there is a lot of catching up to do in the digitization of schools. "We have to get faster and better at expanding broadband and implementing the digital pact." With the help of this federal and state program, schools are to be better connected to the Internet and equipped with computers and tablets for lessons.

In this year's education monitor of the business-related INSM, Thuringia's education system occupies third place after slipping last year. Saxony takes the top spot nationwide, followed by Bavaria.
