Höngeda (dpa/th) - Farmers have protested against the four-lane expansion of federal highway 247 at the expense of arable land. The working group on rural agriculture (AbL) presented a funeral wreath to the Minister of Agriculture and Infrastructure, Susanna Karawanskij (left), on the day of the open construction site in Höngeda (Unstrut-Hainich district) on Saturday.
The association demanded that the minister must stand by the side of agriculture and protect farmland from unnecessarily large-scale infrastructure projects. In this, conventional and ecological farms have joined forces. In addition, the farmers handed over the bread and cheese to the minister. This is a symbol of the added value that is lost due to the 300 hectares of sealed area due to the expansion of the bypass road, it said.
