Thuringia: Fewer foreign qualifications are checked and recognised

Erfurt (dpa/th) - In Thuringia, 509 foreign training certificates were recognized last year. That was 44 pieces of evidence or almost eight percent less than 2020, as the State Statistical Office announced on Thursday in Erfurt. A total of 631 recognition procedures were processed last year, twelve percent fewer than in 2020. The majority of the procedures (63.9 percent) were requested by women.

In 46 cases, the degrees were recognized as not equivalent to German qualifications. 397 of the procedures were about evaluating certificates and other evidence for medical health professionals. In 113 procedures, it was therefore about proof for teachers and other training and teaching professions.

198 cases related to training completed within the European Union. Qualifications from non-European countries were examined in 206 procedures - including primarily those from Asia (165).

Even if foreigners have already worked in a profession and can show the relevant certificates, this does not mean that they can immediately practice the profession again in Germany. You must therefore submit applications for recognition.
