Thuringia: Fewer homes built in Thuringia

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Fewer Thuringian families have fulfilled the dream of their own house in the past year. The number of new, ready-to-move-in single-family homes fell by almost a fifth, or 368, as reported by the State Statistical Office on Monday. 1,546 homes were then completed in the Free State.

Their share of the total number of new homes completed also fell - from 54.2 percent to 45.7 percent. It is not statistically recorded whether the decline was related to the pandemic or possibly to full capacity utilization.

There was also a decrease in completed two-family homes - to 144 compared to 198 in the first year of the pandemic.

According to the State Office, 1,681 new rental or owner-occupied apartments were built in apartment buildings. Compared to 2020, this is an increase of 424 apartments - a third more.
