Thuringia: First aid from hardship funds for the politically persecuted

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The new Thuringian hardship fund for politically persecuted people of the SED dictatorship and victims of forced doping in the GDR has granted those affected first aid. Since the start in June, a little more than 100 interested parties have reported, said the office of the state commissioner for the processing of the SED dictatorship on Monday. In its first meeting, the Advisory Board approved nine proposals. Benefits of up to 5,000 euros are possible, for example for medical measures or expensive everyday purchases. This related, for example, to the repair of a heating system and the purchase of an e-bike and new household appliances. The fund comprises 1 million euros for four years.
