Erfurt (dpa/th) - Around the G7 summit at the end of June at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, 200 police forces from Thuringia are also on duty. According to a demand request, two hundred Thuringian police were sent to Bavaria, a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior told the German Press Agency.
The G7 meeting is to take place from June 26th to 28th for the second time after 2015 in the alpine luxury hotel at the foot of the Wetterstein mountains. The hotel will be hermetically sealed off with a 16-kilometer cordon and security zone. A total of around 18,000 police officers is expected.
In addition to the USA and Germany, the G7 also includes Japan, Great Britain, France, Italy and Canada, and the EU is also represented at all meetings.
Opponents accuse the G7 of being responsible for hunger and growing inequality in the world with their policies. In the past, there have always been large demonstrations and protest events as part of the summits. One day before the summit begins, thousands of people want to take to the streets at a central demonstration in Munich. At least 20,000 participants are expected.
