Thuringia: Geratherm records a decline in sales in the first half of 2022

Geschwenda (dpa/th) - The Thuringian medical technology manufacturer Geratherm lost sales in the first half of 2022, especially in the German market and the Middle East. The decline was around 14 percent in Germany and a good 38 percent in the Middle East compared to the same period last year, the company announced on Wednesday. The total turnover of the listed company based in Geschwenda fell in the first six months of the year by 0.7 percent to 12.3 million euros.

Earnings before interest and taxes improved by 6 percent to one million euros. The bottom line was a profit of 655,000 euros. Despite the uncertainties caused by the war in Ukraine and the resulting problems such as energy prices, inflation and rising costs, the Management Board is cautiously optimistic about the rest of the year. For example, the production of clinical thermometers is currently running at full capacity, and further investments in systems are intended to optimize production.

According to the company, the medical technology producer currently employs around 220 people. In addition to clinical thermometers, devices for measuring vital data, for lung function diagnostics and for diagnosing cardiac arrhythmias are also manufactured.
